Comments Off on Fill These Rooms: My Complete Worldcon Schedule

In less than a month’s time I’m going to be a guest at the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention, a.k.a. Worldcon, taking place during Sasquan in Spokane, Washington (if those sound like two entirely different things to you, listen to the latest episode of Ditch Diggers for a primer on how Worldcon works). If you’re a writer and/or reader of science fiction and fantasy it’s kind of a big deal. The Hugo Awards, which are pretty much the Oscars of SFF, will be happening there, among other things.

If you’re a fan of the Ditch Diggers podcast and/or a fan of mine it’s also kind of a big deal. Mur and I will be packing up our act and taking it on the road for the very first time ever as we record a live Ditch Diggers in front of a (hopefully) large and raucous crowd. I’ll also be giving my first live reading in about six years as I offer folks the first and only exclusive preview of my forthcoming book ENVY OF ANGELS. I’m also plotting a couple of other surprises for that. In addition I’m doing a couple of actually interesting panels with some very smart folks, including bonafide futurists and literary Ph.D.’s.

This will be the first convention I’ve attended since 2010, and the first convention I’ve attended as a guest since 2009. Frankly, I thought I was done with all that jazz. It’s strange to be coming back. I’m actually kind of nervous, which is weird. And excited, which is even weirder.

I hope if you’re in the area you’ll come make my return to the con scene and publishing a triumphant one by filling these rooms, particularly Ditch Diggers Live and my humble reading. I did my time reading to empty rooms in bookstores and small regional cons, and it sucks.
